Wok This Way was losing customers to Wolt — not because the food wasn't good, but because their own website made ordering harder than it needed to be.
The goal: transform the site into a streamlined, conversion-driven experience that guides users toward direct orders and catering sign-ups — cutting out third-party dependency and its associated fees.
The old experience
Forcing location selection as the first step created unnecessary confusion. Long pages, unclear hierarchy, and no guided conversion path left users frustrated. Scroll inside the phone to see for yourself.
What was broken
Forcing location selection as the first step created unnecessary friction. Users were confused about whether menus differed by location, leading to hesitation and drop-offs before they even reached the menu.
Endless scrolling pages on mobile made it difficult for users to find what they needed quickly. The mobile experience was an afterthought rather than a priority — despite most traffic arriving on phone.
Pages lacked clear goals and conversion points. Users weren't guided toward ordering, resulting in lost revenue that went straight to Wolt instead.
Redesigned from the ground up
I rebuilt the entire digital experience around three objectives: simplify the ordering process, optimise for mobile-first usage, and create a seamless POS integration — rather than depending on external shop systems that lack customisation and analytics.
Streamlined homepage
The new homepage immediately presents users with location selection and a clear call-to-action. High-quality food photography and simplified navigation guide users directly to what they're looking for.
Simplified catering form
Interested businesses can now adjust their needed food quantities through sliders, seeing the total price update in real time — no back-and-forth, no confusion.
Nutritional calculator
A widely requested feature. Users can now select meals or build-your-own options and instantly see nutritional values — with filters for allergies and dietary preferences.
Custom ordering system
Users choose their pick-up location, select meals, and check out directly through a floating basket — no redirects to external shop systems, no unnecessary steps. Order sent straight to the kitchen.
Surf Cafe needed a website that matched the laid-back, coastal energy of the brand — clean, welcoming, and easy to navigate for both regulars and new visitors.
The redesign focused on bringing the brand identity to life digitally, with clear navigation, an accessible menu presentation, and a modern visual language that reflects the café's character.

What data I process and why
- Contact form and email. If you write to me, I process the name, email address, company (optional) and message you send, to answer your enquiry and, if relevant, prepare an offer. Legal basis: GDPR Art. 6(1)(b) (steps at your request before a contract) and Art. 6(1)(f) (my legitimate interest in answering enquiries). The form is delivered through the service Web3Forms, which acts as my data processor and passes the message on to my email.
- Server logs. My hosting provider ([hosting company]) automatically processes technical data such as your IP address, browser and time of visit to deliver the site and keep it secure. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f).
- Fonts and images. This page loads fonts from Google Fonts and images from marcabm.com. Loading fonts from Google transfers your IP address to Google. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f).
- Links to other sites. Links, for example to LinkedIn or client websites, lead to services with their own privacy policies.
How long I keep it. Enquiries are kept for as long as needed to handle them and then deleted, at the latest [12] months after the last contact, unless a contract is made. Then I keep what the Danish Bookkeeping Act requires (5 years). Server logs are kept by the host for a short period.
Who receives data. Only the providers named above (email, form delivery and hosting). I do not sell your data. Where a provider is outside the EU/EEA, the transfer relies on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
Your rights. You can ask for access to your data, correction, deletion, restriction, a copy of the data you gave me (portability), and you can object to processing based on legitimate interest. You can withdraw any consent at any time. Write to hello@marcabm.com. You can also complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency, Datatilsynet (datatilsynet.dk).
Cookies
This page does not use cookies or similar technologies for analytics, marketing or tracking. Your browser may store technical data that the page needs to work, for example your scroll position, and nothing is shared with advertisers. If this changes, a consent banner will ask you first, as required by the Danish Cookie Order.
